The Bestest Boy in the Whole World!

Well, year"31" has ended for Felix as of Saturday, the 19th. He turned the big 3-2, and we are thankful that he has had another healthy, successful year. We have had a month full of cakes, birthday presents, and yummy meals. The birthday celebration kicked off early January when my Dad and Michele came to Atlanta to take Felix out for a pre-birthday dinner. The evening started at a new Buckhead hot-spot called Aquaknox. It was delicious. Then we headed over to Morton's for Felix's favorite dessert--Hot Godiva Chocolate Molten Cake. YUM!!!!!!


Next stop on the birthday train is Kiawah Island. Our good friends, Chip and Catherine Wile, invited us to visit their beach home for a little weekend getaway. We are so appreciative that they shared such a beautiful place with us. The four of us were basically roommates at college (no Mom and Dad, the boys didn't sleep over, ha!) , so it was just like old times. We cooked good meals, went on bike rides, did some shopping, and Felix even made Catherine's favorite past time dish-Lagi Lurgi. I am still kindof frost-bitten from our 13 mile bike ride; Chip was just dying to take us on a tour of the island. It was 27 degrees, and it might take me a week to thaw out. But, the sights were well worth it. Thanks guys for a perfect weekend! I have included some photos from the weekend to share.

Where did all this white stuff come from???

Much to our surprise, we got a little bit of snow at our house last night! No, it wasn't much, but we sure did think it was pretty and worth sharing with everyone. Felix and I have some fun memories in the snow. Felix is from New Orleans and had never seen snow a day in his life. So, in January of 2002 we were living in Auburn and the forecast called for snow. Felix kept me up all night because he couldn't wait to see his first snowflake. Hour by hour we would get up and go outside. Finally, the snow came and the next day Felix and I walked all over Auburn (the greatest place in the world) and played in the snow. We took photos (pre-digital era) at Samford Hall, Toomers, the stadium, etc.

Our 2nd snow experience was a sight to be seen!! It was February of 2006 and Felix and I took a small weekender to NYC. Wouldn't you know that they were predicting the largest blizzard of all time? Luckily, the Joiners were in NYC as well and we were all ready to take on the battle. Well, 26 inches of snow fell--a record for Central Park--and boy was it pretty. We all got snowed in NYC (we didn't mind) and got to play in Central Park in the snow all day long. Saks even had a special "snow day" menu--yes, Saks was still open! It was truly an experience. I had never seen so much snow in my life. I have included some photos to share...

Welcome Lil' Gin!!

I just want to welcome my friend, Ginny Williams Grimes, to the blog world! After many months of hazing my friends, I am finally starting to see some blog action. Ginny is a good friend of mine from college. She and her husband, Hunter, live in Andalusia, Alabama. They are expecting their first bambino this summer and will have many exciting things to share with all of us. You can visit Ginny's blog here. The Finish Line Has Been Crossed!

They are here! Jill and Rachel both had their babies yesterday! I say "they crossed the finish line" because these poor girls were in a race yesterday. Both were racing to see who could give birth to their precious little girl first!! Well, would you believe it if I told you that Claire Jacquelyne Rikard was born at 4:03 pm and Zoe Lane Zedaker was born at 4:10 pm??? Isn't that crazy??? You just could have never planned for it to happen this way. Claire weighed 6 lb 8 oz and was 19 inches long and Zoe weighed 8lb 4 oz and was 21 inches long. Both Mommies and Babies are doing great. Congratulations girls!

Doing it together....

Just wanted to share a fun story with everyone. I found out this morning that my friends Jill Harkins Zedaker and Rachel Maddox Rikard are in labor at THE SAME EXACT TIME!! Jill went in last night to be induced, and everyone is expecting the baby sometime this afternoon. Rachel's due date isn't until the end of the month, but we all guess she got a little jealous and decided to go into labor this morning as well. Rachel is now at the hospital and everyone is doing great. The neatest thing about this is that Rachel and Jill are best friends and their babies will have the same birthday! How neat!! Everyone say a little prayer for these girls today and I hope I can post some pictures of these little ones very soon :)

Happy New Year!

This post is a bit late because I have been somewhat lazy the the first week of January! Maybe it's the 20 degree temperatures we have had here in Atlanta :(
Anyway, Felix and I spent New Year's Eve at the Chick-fil-A Bowl and rang in the New Year with an Auburn victory!! We started the evening at Shawn and Kelly McGrath's house for some pre-game tailgating before heading to the dome. The new Auburn offense made Felix and I a bit nervous, but we figured they looked pretty good considering they had only practiced the "no-huddle" technique for 9 days. I guess the only bad part about the game was that we have to wait almost 9 more months before Auburn Football starts again! Anyway, Happy New Year and stay tuned because we have many exciting things on the calendar for 2008!!!!
