Happy Three Months!

This  little munchkin is three months old today. My, how time has flown! She is most precious, snuggling, curious, personable three month old I have ever met. Yes, I am bias.  She has all these little ways about her that will make your heart want to burst, just when you think you have had enough.  It kills me to leave her every morning, but it makes my life complete to come home to her every afternoon. You see, life has not been what her Daddy and I had hoped or planned for the past few months. We planned Daddy would go to work and  Mommy would stay home with the baby. Well,  Someone else had a different plan for us.  Daddy does an AMAZING job playing Mommy all day long and caring for our child. I am so lucky. Blair is so lucky.  This is life as we know it for now. I'm thinking Felix should consider starting his own blog and share his adventure with you as Mr. Mom. That "Mr. Mom" thing would offend most men. Not Felix. He will tell you everyday how lucky he is to have this bonding time with Blair, and I agree. Sure, I miss her (both of them actually). But, that smile of recognition I get every afternoon when I get home makes it all worth it. She knows her Mommy. And when I see that smile it makes everything A-OK ;)

Road Trip

We took Blair on her first long road trip this past weekend to Louisiana. Blair had some family members that were very anxious to meet her, and her Great-Grandfather turned 90 this weekend. The sons all threw him a surprise birthday party that we didn't want to miss out on.   So, off we went!! 

We left around 7:30 pm on Thursday night so that we could travel during Blair's sleepy time. This worked like a charm. It was an eight hour drive to Baton Rouge, and we didn't hear one peep out of the little one for the entire trip. Daddy stopped and got a Mountain Dew and some chocolate to keep him awake while Mommy and Baby slept ;) We stayed at Jason and Mel's house along with Harrison and Harper. Harrison was such a huge help and all he wanted to do was play with Baby Blair. Maw Maw Eydie made an appearance and treated us to some crawfish at Sammy's on Saturday night. I was in hog heaven.

On Saturday we attended Grandpa Bert's 90th birthday party. All the Verdigets' Crew was there and in effect. Gigi Bert had a huge crowd and we all even sang the special Verdigets' birthday song. If you have never heard it then you are missing out. You can't understand a single word of it, and that is why it is so special.

Where's my piece of cake?

It was Sunday before we knew it and it was time to hit the road back to Atlanta. We were not so fortunate on our ride home as we were on Thursday. We had to travel during the day and boy was that a mistake. Our 8 hour drive turned into a 12 hour drive due to the numerous stops we had to make. Our first stop was in Biloxi. Blair had her first casino visit at the Beau Rivage. What better place was there for a bottle and a poopy diaper?!?!? Next, we were on our way to Greenville, AL where we visited the local McDonald's.  The goal was to make it to Auburn after that, but that wasn't Blair's goal. Her goal was East Chase in Montgomery. So, we stopped there and hung out a while and had another bottle. Surely, we were home free. Uh, no. Blair wanted to stop in LaGrange too. So, that was one more McDonald's to add to the list. For those of you who know what a Medela is, the Lagrange McDonald's got to be blessed with the debut of that fine machine. Mommy couldn't stand herself another minute :(  Twelve hours later we finally got home and we were exhausted. I came home with a sore throat and a runny nose. Maybe my throat hurt from singing every lullaby I knew all the way from Louisiana to Georgia???

Except for the ride home, we had a wonderful visit. Blair enjoyed meeting all of her family members and looks forward to the next trip down to Nola. Delta might be a better option next time. We'll see!
