It's in the air...

Still catching up!

Okay, so I'm still a weekend behind. LAST weekend, we made a trip up North. Up North would be Nashville. Not too far North, huh? We hit I-75 right after I got off work and headed to the Joiner's house. It was like rolling into Morton's Steakhouse. Paul had a nice huge piece of meat on the grill, and Claire had her tomato tart and salads all spruced up. After ripping their toilet out of the floor (literally), the Sloan's showed up with some appetizers and a fudge pie. My-oh-my them were some good vittles! You see, we were having ourselves a big meal and saving up our energy for a fun-filled Saturday. The two little cuties pictured above got to meet for the first time. It was their "first date". Davis was supposed to come meet Blair earlier in the year , but he got a nasty virus and had to stay home. Davis had Blair at hello. He flashed his baby blues, and Blair batted her eyelashes back at him, and that was all she wrote!

Saturday started off with a little "WE" time at the pool. The small kids and the big kids enjoyed the beautiful weather and the warm pool water. The Joiner's treated us to lunch at their fine pool and tennis club. It was so nice to walk up to the concession area and say "just put it on the Joiner tab." Felix and I stopped back by there on our way home to Atlanta to stock up for the week, but Shhhh, don't tell them. Times are tough during a recession ;)

After some sunning and shopping, it was time for the big night. The Joiner's provided a babysitter for the evening so all the adults could hit the town. Now let me warn you. It starts off big, but ends pretty dull. We started the evening off with drinks at the Patterson House. Claire told us before we went that Paul wanted his ashes to be spread there if something ever happened to him. This pretty much told me that this place would be big time. Much to Paul's disbelief, we got there right on time and got a great table. Claire and I had a Romeo and Juliet, and a Mint Julep was the other drink of choice. After a round of drinks, it was time to hit the road to Lime. Now back-up a second if you will and let me talk about our transportation for the evening. The Sloan's have a new suburban. Where has this thing been all these years? It is PERFECT for a night on the town. Felix/Neil The Wheel drove (as always), my ipod kept everyone jamming to the beat, B-Money was the co-pilot, and everyone else got to have a dance party in the back. We pimped that ride so hard all night long in Nash-vegas (not that it needed any further pimping with all that chrome)!

Okay, so let me get back on track. Prior to our dinner at Lime, you will notice a little team rally in the middle of the street. This was preparation for our big night (or what we thought would be a big night). We left the Patterson House, and went to Lime and had a wonderful dinner. I recommend the lobster enchiladas, yum,! After dinner, some of us started to yawn and become tired. I swear that Paul Grumpy Joiner!! We couldn't get him to take us ANYWHERE. All he did was sit in the front seat and act is if he was going to fall asleep. Everyone else was SO keyed up and we couldn't get a word out of him. Felix and I told him that we didn't come to Nashville to sit around and play charades at his house. But noooooooooooo, he was not going out anywhere! I guess next time we will just have to stay with the Sloan's since we KNOW B Money will take us out! HA! JK!!

Thanks to you all for a wonderful weekend and for the great hospitality! Can't wait for you all to make it to the A-T-L. The only requirement is that the stay-wag will have to sit this one out because the UAV (urban assault vehicle) needs to be christened in the big city!

Behind...

Okay, so I'm a little behind on my postings! We have had a busy summer, and still have a few things on the agenda. Two weeks ago Blair's Paw Paw treated us to a nice little vacation to Seacrest Beach. We met them and the cousins down there, and had a wonderful time. The Verdigets' beach trip is an annual thing that we do every year. It is so neat to see how the kids change so quickly from year to year. Last year, Blair was in my belly and Gina was convinced it was a boy. Harper was just learning to crawl last year, and as for Harrison, he has turned into such a swimmer in a year's time and is all over the pool! We were not there long enough (never are in my opinion), but we were able to squeeze a few visits in with some friends who were vacationing in the area as well.

Early in the trip, Blair got to meet up with her good buddy Katherine. We made a pit stop at their place on our way to Acme Oyster House. It was bedtime for both of these cuties, but we did manage to make them suffer through a quick photo shoot.

Also in town for the week, were the Ackel's. Jeff and Carrie rented a nice home in our neighborhood so they could be there the same time we were. I managed to chase little Harris around the beach so I could grab some beach shots of him. Isn't he to die for? I'd like to call him Mr. Eyelashes.

Now on to the cousins. It was so nice having all three kids together. We live too far away at times (not far enough at times either, JASON (wink wink)), and we really want the kids to grow up knowing one another. The main thing on our agenda was to get some beach shots of the kids. With a 5 year old, an almost 2 year old, and a six month old ; it was almost impossible! I have to say Harrison was the angel of the group, and he just sat there like a poor statue while we tried to get the girls to cooperate. Oh well, he got some ice cream when it was all said and done! Shhhh!!!

It was such a nice trip, and we look forward to next year's annual beach trip. We really appreciate all Paw Paw and Gina did to make this a special vacation. Paw Paw came with a load of toys (could have left the noodles at home as far I'm concerned), and Gina came with coolers full of food! If you've never had her roast beef po' boys, then you are missing out! Didn't do much for my waist line, but life's too short, huh? But anyway, thanks so much for taking care of us and we can't wait to see all of you soon!
