We had Carter's 1 month check-up last Monday. Dr. Pip says she is doing great, and growing perfectly. She weighs 9 lbs 5 oz (50th percentile) and is 21.25 inches long (50th percentile). Just as I thought, she is a tad bit smaller than Blair was at this point in weight, but she is a whole inch longer than her sister was at one month old! She gave me a run for my money this first month because she would NOT sleep much at all during the day. She would catnap 20 minutes here and there, and I was not functioning well off of that because I had things to do with big sister! However, she would sleep for days if I held her (Lord knows how bad I wanted to), but you can't hold a baby all day when you have a 3 year old. So, Moms on Call came to the rescue, and now we have a baby who takes 3 naps a day around 1.5 hour each! She loves her bed, swaddle blanket, and sound machine, and we are all happier people! She is doing great at night, and giving me some pretty long stretches. We love a good 7 pm-7 am nighttime routine around here, so I will feel like I have succeeded once we hit that mark! I am so thankful for this precious and healthy angel that has come into our lives. I want to say it here so I can come back and read it one day that I think this is going to be our fireball! When she gets mad, she gets REALLY mad, and doesn't provide much warning. We will see how things play out, but I'm preparing myself ;).
Here are some pictures I took on her 1 month birthday.

Easter Weekend
Uh-oh. Blogger has changed. I didn't need any kinks thrown into my blog-life right now ;)
We had a wonderful and relaxing Easter Weekend. Felix's Dad and Gina came into town from New Orleans. I would be lying if I said the weekend didn't center around eating. However, we did throw some Easter activities into the mix.
Things started off with a photo shoot of my girls. Their famous Aunt TT hooked us up with some adorable Easter shirts. If you haven't seen her Smitten and Co stuff on Etsy, then you are missing out.
After church, Paw Paw and Gina met us for a yummy brunch at the 57th Fighter Club. They had quite the spread; complete with eggs for Paw Paw. Now that everyone had a full tummy, it was time to go home and take naps! We had a wonderful Easter with our new little addition, and we are so thankful for these precious blessings the Lord has given us.

Later that day, Pop and Mimi came into town. Mimi is the queen of dying eggs, so she got Blair's station all set up. Pop loves hiding the eggs, so we had us a good ole country-style egg hunt in the front yard - complete with tissue paper in the basket because Mommy didn't have any fake grass!
The Easter Bunny stopped by our house bright and early on Easter morning. That bunny sure was good to the girls this year. He said it sure is hard to fill up a basket for a 4 week old! What could one that little need?? Carter was just confused as to why we made her get up so early ;)
Our little family of four surprised a lot of people when we showed up for Easter service that morning. It was not pretty getting out the door, but we somehow look completely put together when we got there. Both of my girls were very good during the service. A Dr. Brown's bottle and some gummies will get you far in life ;)

American Girl
Blair's school was on Spring Break the week prior to Easter, so that meant we had to come up with some activities to keep her occupied. Daddy offered to keep Carter so we could have a lunch date at the American Girl Cafe. Megan and I called it the big girl lunch because only the big sisters were invited. We told the girls that they could each pick out a new outfit for their dolls, "Abby" and "Girl". They knew exactly which clothes they wanted to get, and they dressed their dolls right away.

The table next to us treated themselves to some ice cream cones, so of course had to get them as well! Blair was licking her chops the minute she laid eyes on them. Each girl ate one cone, and Megan and I dreamt about what the 3rd cone would taste like ;)
We had a wonderful time, and can't wait for our next American Girl trip! Blair asked her Pop to take her and get TWO dolls. He said "of course we will go." I don't think Pop knows the dolls are $100 a pop! LOL!

Egg Hunt
Friends, I am behind again, BUT I have a good excuse. We will start with the Easter Egg hunt at the Governor's Mansion. This was Blair's 3rd visit, and I was so excited to get to take her all by myself. She and I had missed out on some good quality time together, so it meant a lot to me to be there with my girl. Her Quinny-Quinn and lil' ole Kathryn were also there, which made the morning extra fun. We got there just in time for the egg hunt to kick off. Each girl could hunt 5 eggs. I think Blair found 50 instead of 5.

Next, was story time. This year's story and free book centered around Clifford. Each guest received a book to take home and got to visit with Clifford the big red dog. Well, if you know Blair then you can imagine how that went. I think at one point I found her hiding in the First Lady's closet on the 3rd floor. She does NOT like characters.

However, she DOES like cookies. They had some yummy treats of all sorts for the girls to pig out on. We had the perfect amount of sweets right before lunchtime. It was awesome ;)

And last, but not least, we ran into Miss Addie on the way to the car. She had just gotten her face painted and looked adorable. Her mother and I would never bribe these girls for a picture, now would we???

It was such a fun morning, and next year we look forward to taking baby Carter with us. Blair, if you ever read this blog, I hope that you will appreciate the fact that your Mommy emailed the Governor's Mansion 4 short hours after baby sister's arrival to reserve your spot!! Oh, the joys of juggling 2 children!

Here goes...
Oh, will I ever have time to blog again??? Time will tell, but it sure is hard finding the time right now :-) I can't let another day go by though without introducing our new angel to the blog world. Miss Carter Ellen Verdigets made her big debut on March 12, 2012. She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, and was 20.5 inches long. She is healthy and perfect in every single way, and I couldn't be more smitten. She put me through a little bit of hell when labor hit me on that Sunday evening, March 11th. I was in epidural heaven within a few hours after that, and couldn't have had a better delivery. It was one of those experiences that make people keep coming back for more. I'll just have to store this one way back in the memory section of my brain ; ) Here are some pictures from Carter's big debut.
I took some pictures of the girls together on Carter's one week birthday. There are no fake smiles on Blair's face. She is really that happy to have her baby sister here with us. I think she would run away with her if I wasn't watching ;)

And here are the most recent pictures that I took on Carter's 2 week birthday (yes, I am cramming all of this into one post). Some friends gave us the little pea in the pod hat, and I am in love with it. So far she has been a little angel for all her photo shoots. I am sure it will get tougher as the sleepiness starts to wear off!
So, that is where we are as of now. Carter will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Doesn't time fly when you are exhausted? Ha! She is eating every 3 hours during the day, and giving us 5-7 hour stretches at night. She sleeps great in her crib at night, but not so much during the day. We have jumped in head first with our Moms on Call routine, and I hope we get a little better every single day! Blair is adjusting well, and has been spoiled rotten by all of the grandparents. She has eaten her fair share of desserts, and has received enough princess gear to stock a Disney gift shop. We have been blessed to have family around the past 3 weeks, so tomorrow starts the real world for me and the girls. Blair is on spring break this week, so I'm sure it is going to be a challenge keeping her occupied. So, say some prayers this week as I try to juggle this new life of ours, and lets hope my girls treat me really nice!
