Back at it...

Things have picked up in full swing around our house lately. It's good though, because Blair and I do much better when we have a routine. Staying busy keeps both of us out of trouble ;)

Blair started a new preschool this year, and she is IN LOVE with her teacher. I am very thankful and fortunate that we suffer from no separation anxiety at this house when it comes to school. We went for the first day just to meet the teacher and visit the classroom.

We were so excited about our first day of school. Blair was excited to get in the arms of Mrs. DeLong. I was excited that we got to take our "first day of school" picture. Daddy even played hooky so he could join us. As you can tell, no tears were shed.

In addition to school, Blair also began her first ballet class. For some reason my hormones didn't handle the first ballet class too well. I guess the leotards and ballet skirts were just too much!! I thought my heart was going to burst!

So, that's about it! We are loving the cooler temps and enjoying some Auburn Football on the weekends. It's our favorite time of the year, and we love cheering for our team. It will probably be a long season for our Tigers, but that's okay. We ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear our orange at this house. Win OR Lose. Happy Fall and War Eagle!!

Pies!!!

Some of you were curious as to where the pie favors came from for Elizabeth's shower. I am very proud to say that Anna Kate, Claire, and I made them ourselves! We borrowed the idea and the recipe from HERE. I don't want to take any credit for coming up with this idea myself ;) I approached Claire and Anna Kate with the idea, and I'm sure they were saying "Tara has some real guts suggesting this since she can't even COOK!". But, in the end, I think they will say it was not has hard as we thought, and I think I helped just enough in the kitchen (and with my camera). They were shocked that I even own a zester!

I will let you go to Paige's blog for the actual recipe, but here are my photos of our hard work in progress! First, we zested our lemons.

Next, we mixed all of our ingredients in with the berry mix.

We then added our pie filling (with some butter) to the mini mason jars.

Next, we used a mason jar to cut our pie crust and placed them in the mouth of the jar.

We used a fork to make ridges around the edge of our crust. We also made a split in the top of the pies with a knife. After brushing a little butter on top, it was time for the oven!

The tops of the pies didn't turn out as pretty as planned, BUT we knew when added our stickers and fabric to the jars, it wouldn't matter.

And we were right. The finished product was to die for! They were adorable AND tasted very good! Trust me, I had mine warmed with a little scoop of ice cream and it was DELISH! So, you can ask us professionals if you have any questions when making your mini-mason jar pies! We thought it turned out super cute and yummy!

Two Sweet

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating the upcoming birth of Palmer and Price Sloan. Whitney Akin, Elizabeth's good friend from Nashville, was kind enough to offer her home (and put up with me) in order to throw the best baby shower ever! After many many months of planning, the details started coming together. Nico and Lala from Nashville were wonderful to work with and provided the most darling party swag you have ever seen!

The mom-to-be was glowing (as always), and she is lucky to have such a wonderful group of friends to love and support her and Blake as they raise these babies!

We were also very lucky to have a wonderful cook on our hands. Kristen Scott is from Texas and owns her own business called Hospitality Sweets. She was hard at it the entire shower, and brought some of the cutest sweet treats you have EVER seen!

We also had some very talented smockers and monogrammers (don't know if these are real words but you get the point) as well. Elizabeth is lucky to have SUCH talented friends!

And there is never a shortage of owls with this group.

I am so excited for the upcoming arrival of Palmer and Price. I am also very excited that some of my closest friends will have babies around the same age as Baby Verdigets.

I had a wonderful time in Nashville and a huge thank you to Claire for letting us blow up her kitchen while making our pie favors. Don't worry, that blog post is coming next! Just call us the "dream team"!
