As always, we paid the Macy's Pink Pig a visit. Going during Thanksgiving week was not the smartest decision.
While we were in Alabama for Thanksgiving, we visited Santa at Russell Farms on Lake Martin. It was such a cute set-up. Santa came in on horse and carriage and we even got to go for a ride ourselves. They had a station set up to make ornaments and the girls loved it. We hope we can do this again next year.
We went to get our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. As always, we drove to the church parking lot and requested a delivery. That's about the best we do at picking out the perfect one ;) The girls loved decorating it this year, and couldn't wait to break out their Christmas pajamas.
Daddy and I also got all dressed up one night for the KPMG Christmas Party. It was at the College Football Hall of Fame. That was right up our alley!
Yes, we had an elf too. I don't have many nice things to say about him, because he brought a TON of germs into our house this holiday season. Everyone pretty much missed all their school parties and fun functions because of this. Ugh!
After our trip to Louisiana (see previous post), it was time to get things into gear for Santa's arrival. On Christmas Eve we did all the necessary things. We had cookies to bake, a church service to attend, and secret elf work that needed to be done. It was a busy, busy, busy day!
I could not believe that our girls slept until 7:40 on Christmas morning!!! I almost had to wake them up so they would see what Santa had brought. I love the anticipation on the stairs every Christmas morning. Carter wasn't too sure in the beginning, but she eventually got the hang of it. She had the look of pure shock on her face. My living room looked like a bomb had gone off after about 10 minutes.
Later that day we drove to LaGrange to my cousins house for a late lunch. Her house was decorated so nice. And of course, we loved her tree. Just the right colors! The drinks were festive and the food was delicious. No one wants to think about what the caloric intake was that day! The girls loved seeing the family and getting even MORE presents. Can we say spoiled rotten?!
A few days of rest were definitely needed after all this commotion. We did have quite a bit of time left before back to school, so there was plenty of fun left to be had. Blair had been begging us to take her ice-skating, so we indulged in a family-fun night at the St Regis. There was ice-skating, s'mores, hot chocolate, and yummy Prosecco for Mommy ;) Something to please everyone!
We also went bowling one afternoon with Blair's friend, Eloise. Carter-girl even went along for the ride. Daddy had been bragging about his game, so it didn't take long for me to school him on the game of bowling. I think I see this in our near future as a date night ;)
We said farewell to 2014 with a nice dinner at home with The Driskell's. The girls have been exchanging Christmas gifts since they were born, and we always get together during the holidays. We have spent many of play dates together watching these girls play with teething rings all the way now to performing puppet shows. They have grown up SO much. Since school is so time-consuming now, we don't see each other as much, but they ALWAYS pick right up where they left off with no problems!
And last but certainly not least, Felix and I spent New Year's Day with Pop and Mimi. We spent the day eating tons of yummy food, drinking delicious champagne, and watching college football. Pop and Mimi sure did miss the girls, but Felix and I sure did enjoy a day of being waited on by Mimi ;) Pop and Mimi did not get to celebrate Christmas with the girls this year due to Pop's immune system, SO we have PLENTY of catching up to do in 2015. So here is to a very HAPPY and HEALTHY New Year!
