Sprinkle and Egg Hunt

The Verdigets had a big weekend this past week. I trotted off to Nashville to help sprinkle Claire Joiner with some precious baby gifts for Baby Reid. He is only a few weeks away from arriving and I don't think big brother Davis is too excited! HA! We shopped and pampered ourselves on Friday so we would be all fresh and relaxed for the big day on Saturday. We had a nice little brunch at Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville. We went with a giraffe theme this time, and I think we pulled it off nicely :)

Some of Claire's closest friends and family came to help celebrate the anticipated arrival of Reid Towers Joiner.

Claire got some of the cutest things at the Sprinkle. It wouldn't have been the same without some personalization. What good does it do to have a party with no monogramming?!?!?! It won't do in my opinion.

After the brunch, we had a nice relaxing afternoon on Claire's back deck before heading out to a nice dinner. We decided to take an extra friend to dinner with us. I was given this guy the day Blair was born. Since these people were there to celebrate with me, I thought it made perfect sense for us to celebrate with Opus on Claire's special day.

Blair and Daddy also had a big time while Mommy was away. Daddy took Blair to the Easter Egg Hunt at the Governor's Mansion.

Nonna came along for the ride to help out, and they had a really good time.

They also ran into a few friends along the way!

Blair met a half-human-half-Easter bunny while she was there. She didn't really like it that much. I don't blame her ;)

So, our weekend was great and we are looking forward to Easter Sunday. Blair has a cold this week, so hopefully she will be good to go by Easter morning! We wish everyone a Happy Easter and safe travels!

Everyone was dying to know who wore this shirt on my girl's weekend.

Well, here she is! She was so excited to break the news to us!

I think this was the look on her face today when she saw TWO buns in the oven today.

I guess we will have to buy her this shirt instead.

Fourteen Months

Well, I have a big girl on my hands. She's full blown walking. Maybe even running at times. She's answering my questions. She's even giving me attitude at times. Where did the time go? I wanted to post about this birthday on the blog, just because it's definitely one of the biggest changes with Blair that I have seen. You wouldn't think that she would be that different since her 1st birthday, but she is. It breaks my heart to see her get so big because that means time is flying by, but at the same time it makes me smile to see her continue to learn and grow. Here are a few things that she loves right now.

She loves her baby. Baaaaaaaaaaay as she calls it. Still working on that 2nd syllable. As you can tell that baby 1 is clean and new. Baby 2 is dirty and worn. We had to buy a back up baby just in case.



She also loves this book. This is our night time ritual book. Never fails. She will not get in the bed without reading it at least once.



She is loving her shoes. She calls them schoooooooooz. There is nothing like bringing back the keds. I was in heaven when we found a pair that fit. We had to special order the other pair because we have a really small foot :) Wonder where that came from? But she wants to carry her shoes around in her hands all day long. That is why they are on Mommy's dresser. Once we wear them outside, they are no longer edible!



And last but not least, Blair loves this person. This is her Ra-Ra. Oh, how she loves her Ra-Ra. Ra-Ra has done just as good as a job as I would have done caring for this child. They have a love for one another that you can read on their face every morning. Ra-Ra has taught this child so much. I can't even explain it. She's also tried her best to teach her dirty words such as Roll Tide, but it's not working yet! Thank God. Ra-Ra is part of the family now, and we are so thankful for her!





I can't even tell you how much this child rocks. She tries to repeat everything we say. She even can count 1-2-3. She uses her baby sign language when she is asking me for something. She even tells me night night when she is ready to go to sleep. She's a good eater and we haven't really found anything we don't like yet. Hummus is the equivalent to birthday cake, and that is fine with me. I can't wait to see what the next few months bring because I have been blown away the past month. I love this chunk of love to pieces!

Almost Bearadise

I had a wonderful weekend in Bearadise with some of my favorite gals this weekend. We had our annual OOC weekend, and it was my year to host. I thought there would be no better place than Blue Ridge, GA. There aren't many places these mountain mamas have not been before, but a weekend at Solitude was one of them!

Everyone drove in on Friday afternoon and brought tons of gear with them. We had everything from firewood to smores to groceries to beverages, etc. Someone even brought one of these along...

We had a had a wonderful meal on Friday night prepared by AKD-C. She cooked up a mean lasagna with salad and bread. We had a nice family dinner around the table. It was SO good.

After dinner we decided to do some lounging around and catching up...

We even drew names to see who would host OOC Weekend for 2011!!!

Ginny prepared us a wonderful breakfast first thing Saturday morning. We had to build up our energy to prepare ourselves for the bonfire we were going to make that day.

Jennifer and I built a mean campfire, if I can say so myself. It was perfect for storytelling, laughing with friends, and eating smores. I loved them and I am not ashamed of it.

The smores gave us huge sugar rush, so we decided to come in and practice our bop line for old times sake.

Saturday afternoon came to an end too soon. After spending sunset in the hot tub, we ate another great meal prepared by Blazer. She fixed a delicious taco soup and Jennifer added the icing on the cake with some apple dumplings. The only thing left on our agenda to do was watch our old college video that some of the girls made for us when we graduated. Ginny was kind enough to transfer it to dvd for us this year.

It was a wonderful weekend that ended WAY too soon. Every year I have the pleasure of spending an entire weekend with these girls. Some years we have exciting stories to tell; some years we even have sad stories to tell. All in all we have a great time and will never skip this tradition as long as we are well and alive.
