Winter Happenings

It was a long and cold winter here in the A-T-L. It seemed that we had A LOT of snow days and NO snow. Pretty typical for the South.  We seem to take things pretty easy around here in February since it is our first chance to recover from the holidays and birthdays.  March gets busy again with another birthday and spring break, so February is our month of rest.  Carter had dance observation at ballet. She got to show off her skills for the camera. She has Mrs. Kristi, which is the same teacher Blair had for 3 years. There is no other Mrs. Kristi out there.

Blair had a Valentine's program at her school during February. It was called "Beats" and they sang popular Valentine's Day songs. She loved getting all dressed up and performing on the stage. I thought their music teacher did a great job with them, and the performance was so cute!

For Valentine's Day we took the girls to Auburn for the gymnastics meet. We had a delicious dinner at Hamilton's and then went to the Arena for the meet. We happened to run into Mommy's Valentine while we were there ;)

And what do you know, I did manage to have myself a little bit of fun in February. Anna Kate and Stacey came to Atlanta for a visit, and we managed to get in just enough shopping and dining. It was the perfect pick-me-up during depressing winter days! A day of shopping in Bulkhead and dinner at The Southern Gentleman was just what these mama's needed!

Just in time for spring is Carter-girl's 3rd birthday! Stay tuned!!

Blair's 6th Birthday

How is it possible that my Blair Bear is SIX years old?! (almost 6.5 if you are counting how late I am on this blog post).  I have never seen a child love a birthday more than Blair.  She FULLY expects a huge to-do, and I will admit that she gets that honest ;) Blair's birthday was on a Friday this year, so we kicked off our celebrating as soon as school was out. Blair said she wanted to go to Sushi Nami for her birthday, so we did just that. After dinner, we came back to our house for cake and presents. Felix (yes, Felix) made Blair the most adorable cake, and we enjoyed that for dessert along with her Ra-Ra. 

Blair and her good friend, Eloise, have the same birthday week, so we took the girls to American Girl the very next day. "Isabelle" and "Stephanie" were decked out and ready for the outing as well. These are the only two girls I know who would rather read from the clue's box on the table instead of having a tea party. 

And if all of this wasn't already enough, it was now time for the birthday party! Blair wanted a soccer-themed party this year, and I will say that making that happen in January is NOT easy. We finally decided to have the party in the gym at our church, and that worked well enough. Blair had a mixture of friends there from her preschool days, from soccer, and from her kindergarten class. Our girl LOVES soccer, so this party was right up her alley! 

And last but not least, it would not be a celebration without Pop and Mimi. Pop could not make he party this year due to his health, so they drove up the very next day to celebrate Blair AND Felix's birthday. Poor Felix has not had a real birthday in 6 years. BUT, that will change next year for the big 4-0!!!

Blair, on your 6th birthday you weigh 42 lbs. and you are 43.75 inches tall. You love school, and you are such a teacher-pleaser. You get stars every single day on your conduct, and all of your reviews are wonderful. You are a wonderful reader, and you are also a great friend at school. You have the biggest heart of anyone I know. This sometimes results in tears because you are also so sensitive. It doesn't take much to hurt your feelings.  The smallest things such as hair, clothes, and food can really get you going.  We are working on the tears ;) You are just like your Mommy about your food. You are planning the next meal while you are eating the current one. You are just like your Daddy with your dessert. You will nurse a good dessert for a good 30 minutes. You love to eat eggs, and your favorite meal is breakfast for dinner. You are very athletic and love to play soccer and do gymnastics. You love wearing exercise clothes and "exercising" on your gymnastics mat. You also like taking ballet/jazz, but you are mentioning that you may want to try tap dance next year. You have not met an activity that you don't love (and you are exhausting your Mommy with this;)).  You love to watch Dancing with the Stars, Auburn gymnastics, The Disney Christmas Parade, and any Disney movie. You love playing with Lego Friends, American Girl dolls, and making arts and crafts. I will say that your most favorite thing to do is to ride your bike and play outside with the neighbors. You have lost your two bottom teeth, and the top two teeth are loose. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you. You are a wonderful daughter and a wonderful big sister. I love watching you change and grow up into a beautiful little girl!
